Making a will is always a difficult procedure to do but will
give you control over your affairs and peace of mind knowing that
at this sad time in your families lives all your financial business
will have been taken care of through your will taking the pressure
of your nearest and dearest at this sad time.
There are many reasons for making a Will including:
- You think you may be eligible to have to pay Inheritance
Tax
- You have children who would need to be cared for should anything
happen to me
- You have recently divorced or in the process doing so
- You own all or part of a business
- You own your property yourself or with a partner
- You are not married to your partner
- Your financial circumstances have changed and you have come
into some money
- You have just got married or remarried
- If you fail to make a will the law relating to intestacy does
not recognise common law spouses or step children. If you die
intestate, your common law spouse or stepchildren will get nothing.
When you make a Will you can decide:
- The Executors who will handle your affairs and carry out your
wishes
- Who will receive any monetary gifts from yourself or other
specific items of property or family heirloom
- Who will receive the balance of your money and state any conditions
you wish to apply with the inheritance
- Who you would wish to take care for your children if they
are aged under 18

burial and any other personal requirements for your funeral
